Network Learning Project Final

I have been learning, failing, fixing, and experimenting with nail polish water marbling for my Network Learning Project for several weeks now. It has been a messy process, but creativity and learning is messy!

During my learning, I have encountered several roadblocks. The two main problems were that I could not create a bulls-eye in the water cup and there were bubbles on my nails after dipping them into the polish design. I watched tutorials on YouTube and read through several help forums to get guidance from others. I learned that many factors could be contributing to my wonky bulls-eye. The temperature of the water and polish formulas seem to be the most likely elements that needed tweaking to create my desired bulls-eye. I also learned that bubbles can be prevented by dipping your nails in the water at a slant.

Finally, a bulls-eye!

With the bulls-eye in place, I was able to draw designs in the polish.

I am pleased with my progress so far, but would like to continue improving my nail art skills. I want to learn other nail art techniques and put my collection to good use! Water marbling with nail polish seems like a long process, but once you get started, it really doesn’t take very long. Plus, I enjoy the process of creating the designs in the water and transferring those design onto my nails. We must enjoy the journey of the creative process!

The next step to improve my nail polish water marbling would be to grow my nails out longer. I did not feel like I could transfer the full design that I wanted onto my nails because they were so short.

Learning from YouTubers and online help forums seemed very natural for me. I often look to these communities to learn new things. I have never really reflected about how special these learning communities are, and how we have developed a collaborative learning environment online. These communities connect learners with experts from all over the world, covering an array of topics and interests. For learners of all kinds, online learning communities open up a world of potential learning.
